Theo Wease Jr.’s 154th collegiate catch may have been his most crucial, a 10-yard touchdown reception with 1:03 remaining in Missouri’s 30-23 win over Oklahoma on Saturday night, but it was the MU defense that created the winning score, as Zion Young returned a Jackson Arnold fumble 17 yards for the game-winning score on the Sooners ensuing possession.
Trailing 23-16, Wease’s catch tied the game after Billy Bowman Jr.’s 43-yard scoop-and-score gave Oklahoma the lead.  Wease said, “I was ready for overtime. I had to flip the switch and get ready for the next play.”
Mizzou’s defense then stunned Oklahoma, as Mike Kelly provided the call on the Tiger Network from Learfield Sports:
Missouri’s comeback was sparked by Drew Pyne, who overcame a sluggish first half. Pyne connected with receivers, including Wease, and displayed pocket poise. Wease added a 13-yard TD catch in the third quarter.
Pyne finished 14-of-27 for 143 yards and three touchdowns. Wease had four receptions, including two scores.
Oklahoma turned the ball over four times, its most since 2006.
Daylan Carnell forced two fumbles, and Ja’Marion Wayne recovered a muffed punt.
Coach Drinkwitz said, “I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
The Tigers (7-2, 3-2) face South Carolina at 3:15 p.m. Saturday in Columbia, South Carolina, seeking their sixth consecutive win in the series.
