The Worth County Tigers, an athletic program surging in confidence after an unbeaten football season, completed Saturday in a state championship thrashing of Sedalia Sacred Heart, traded their cleats for sneakers on Tuesday night, for the basketball opener at Princeton, broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.
If the opener is any indication, Worth County’s basketball team could be a factor for a Grand River Conference West title, as the visiting Tigers rode seven three-point shots by Cade Allee to a 71-56 win over the Princeton Tigers. Andrew Smith led Princeton with 23 points while Blaine Millburn added 15.
The girls contest went the way of Worth County, as the Lady Tigers won at Princeton 53-42.
