The Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network has added St. Louis stations KMOX-AM and KYKY-HD3 as new affiliates, bringing the number of stations on the network to 75, covering 12 different states.

Not only is the move significant for the long-time status that KMOX has had within the St. Louis market and the entire Midwest, it resonates because of comments the Kansas City franchise made after the Rams left St. Louis for Los Angeles, moving back to their five-decade home after 21 years in Missouri.

At the time, the Chiefs made statements on the potential of trying to grow the Kansas City fanbase into the eastern Missouri and St. Louis markets, while remaining sensitive to the sentiments of a fanbase jilted twice, first by the NFL’s Cardinals in 1988, who moved to Arizona, and now by the Rams.

The Chiefs first preseason game of the 2016 season is Saturday night, as Kansas City hosts the NFC power Seattle Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium.
