Tuesday night was to be among the busiest basketball nights of the season for all 16 Grand River Conference schools, with a full slate of eight doubleheaders (four in the east, four in the west) dotting the landscape. However, with the remnants of the weekend’s wicked weather continuing to cause havoc, three of the four doubleheaders in the GRC East were postponed, with Trenton at Polo, Putnam County at Princeton, and Milan at South Harrison moved to later in the season. Trenton at Polo will now be played on Saturday, February 2nd, with the other two doubleheaders moved to Thursday, January 31st.
Gallatin did travel westward on Highway 6 on Tuesday night, playing the Maysville Wolverines in a girls/boys double-dip. The Lady Wolverines took the opener 48-40, with the Bulldogs returning the favor in the boys game, winning 49-43.
While most of the action in the GRC East was called off, that was not in the case in the GRC West, with all eight games going off without a hitch. In girls action, the Stanberry Lady Bulldogs beat North Andrew 53-37, while the Worth County Lady Tigers downed Albany 59-41. In the closest game of the night, King City squeaked out a 70-68 win against Pattonsburg, while the Braymer Lady Bobcats downed St. Joseph Christian 51-45.
In boys finals, North Andrew downed Stanberry 50-46, Worth County was a 44-34 winner over Albany, Pattonsburg hammered King City 81-51, while St. Joseph Christian looked strong in a 64-28 win against Braymer.
