The Milan softball team, slated to open its season this Saturday at Brashear, had that game called off over the past week, but a stern road test against Class 1 regional power North Harrison awaits on Monday afternoon at 5 o’clock on KTTN FM 92.3, with Tom Johnson providing the play-by-play call from Eagleville.
Last Friday afternoon, the Lady ‘Cats got their feet wet toward the 2020 season, hosting Princeton and Gallatin in a pair of four-inning games in a three-team all-GRC jamboree at Legion Field in Milan. The experience should be of benefit to both the Lady Wildcats and the Lady Bulldogs of Gallatin, as Gallatin returns to Milan on Tuesday, September 1st for the GRC opener at 5:30.
On Thursday afternoon at 5:35, KTTN will air the first weekly softball interview of the season with Lady ‘Cats head coach Nathan Dodson, with a re-airing at halftime of Friday night’s Milan football contest against South Shelby.

The Milan football team will be an interesting group to follow in 2020, with numerous story lines developing around the program. While graduation did hit the Wildcats especially hard, Milan comes off a 2019 season that was short-circuited by injuries to many of those same seniors.
While those injuries kept Milan short of its goal of a GRC title, numerous underclassmen were able to get varsity playing time, which in turns, increases the amount of quality depth and experience on this year’s squad for coach John Dabney. Another story line to follow is at quarterback, where Mallan Cole replaces Ryan Dabney in 2020. Dabney, the oldest son of Milan coaches John and Andrea Dabney, moved on to the football program at nearby Truman State University, while Cole moved to Milan from Maysville, as his father, Mark Cole, left the Maysville head coaching position to become the new defensive coordinator at Milan High School.
A quality foe from the tough Clarence Cannon Conference enters the PIT on Friday with the South Shelby Cardinals, led by a new head coach in Adam Gunterman. Our weekly interview with coach Dabney will air at 5:50 on Thursday nights, and in pregame for each Milan broadcast, including this Friday night on KTTN FM 92.3, as Dennis Stephenson has the call from Cal Hubbard Field.
