The University of Georgia has clinched a spot in the Southeastern Conference championship game for the fourth consecutive season, as a crazy afternoon on Saturday saw #7 Alabama, #9 Ole Miss, and #15 Texas A&M fall to unranked opponents on the road.
Georgia’s opponent for the December 7th game in Atlanta will be either the University of Texas or Texas A&M University, with the winner of Saturday night’s battle in College Station earning the right to play the Bulldogs.
Last weekend, Auburn beat Texas A&M in the longest game of the season in the SEC, going four overtimes in a 43-41 final score. In the marquee victory for the program in their first year in the SEC, Oklahoma stunned Alabama in Norman 24-3, while an improving Florida team beat Mississippi 24-17. Georgia, playing Massachusetts in non-conference action, avoided the upset bug with a 59-21 victory in Athens. Georgia will finish the regular season this week with the Bulldogs annual grudge match against in-state rival Georgia Tech. The only one-loss team in the SEC is Texas, after the Longhorns beat Kentucky on Saturday, 31-14.
