Wiggins tosses four-hit shutout as THS continues strong start

The Trenton Bulldogs picked up a workmanlike 3-0 baseball victory over the Cameron Dragons on Monday afternoon, behind a four-hit shutout from Brayden Wiggins.  Wiggins allowed just three walks and struck out six batters, throwing 106 pitches, 65 of those for strikes.

Cameron starting pitcher Hamilton struck out nine batters in 5 2/3 innings of work, but was touched up for all three runs, although just one was earned as the Dragons committed three costly errors.

Wiggins was 2-for-3 with the bat with a walk and a run scored.  Other runs were scored by Miller and Skipper.  Skipper, Wilson, and Taylor had RBI’s.

On Thursday, March 21st, Chillicothe outlasted Trenton by a score of 8-6.  Donoho had a three RBI, 3-for-4 day at the plate for the Hornets, with Atchison adding a pair of runs and pair of hits. 

Mason Rongey took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing all eight runs, although just two were earned as Trenton committed four errors.  Chillicothe went errorless in the field.  Rongey scattered nine hits and struck out four batters, throwing 94 pitches, 63 for strikes.  Ralls was the winning pitcher for Chillicothe, allowing 11 hits and five runs, all earned, with five walks and five strikeouts.

Rongey was 3-for-4 out of the leadoff spot for Trenton, with Miller adding a pair of hits in four at-bats.  

Chillicothe took an early 5-1 lead after four innings, but the Bulldogs briefly tied up the game with a four spot in the home 5th.  The Hornets iced the game with a sixth inning run and two more insurance tallies in the 7th.

In a wild contest from Tuesday, March 19th, Trenton lost at Hamilton 22-14.  Rongey had four RBI’s for the Bulldogs.  Camden Skipper had three base hits, with Graeme Sager, Miller, and Rongey all with two base knocks.

Trenton lost to Carrollton on Monday, March 18th by a final score of 6-4, as the visiting Trojans broke a 4-4 tie with two runs in the top of the 6th inning.
