In a game between the Houston Astros and the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night, the Astros dominated with a 14-0 victory. Kyle Tucker led the charge for Houston, hitting a two-run single in the second inning and a three-run homer in the sixth, finishing the game with five RBIs. Alex Bregman also had a big night, hitting his third grand slam of the season and tying the Astros record for most career grand slams.

The Astros’ offensive outburst included 18 hits, their highest total since September 10, 2019. Bregman, Yainer Diaz, and Corey Julks each had three hits in the game. The win marked the Astros’ largest shutout victory since September 9, 2019, and the Cardinals’ largest shutout loss at home since August 8, 2012.

On the pitching side, J.P. France delivered an excellent performance for the Astros, allowing only four hits in seven innings. He was supported by Rafael Montero, who retired six straight batters to secure the shutout.

For the Cardinals, starting pitcher Adam Wainwright had a rough outing, giving up six runs in just 1 2/3 innings. This marked his shortest start since June 17, 2017, and his ERA increased to 7.45. Despite his struggles, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol expressed confidence in Wainwright and stated that he would take his next turn in the rotation.

The Cardinals, who have lost four of their last six games, fell to a record of 33-47. The Astros, on the other hand, continue to perform well with their potent offense and improved to an impressive 50-31 record.

In upcoming games, the Astros will face the Texas Rangers with Ronel Blanco on the mound, while the Cardinals will take on the New York Yankees with Matthew Liberatore as their starting pitcher.
