Trenton Head Wrestling Coach Charlie Bacon described it as a “rough night for our lighter weights”, as the Chillicothe Hornets won 7 of 11 contested matches against the Bulldogs on Tuesday night, taking a decisive 54-18 win over their rivals of Trenton, in a head-to-head dual on Tuesday night at Chillicothe High School.
Trenton’s first win was achieved mid-way through the dual, as Eric Lovett, at 145 pounds, grabbed a 10-2 major decision over Chillicothe’s Dawson Wheeler. At 195 pounds, Bulldog junior Jadan Whitney claimed a pin over Erek Brose at 4 minutes and 45 seconds, while Mason Owen, at 220 pounds, took a 12-3 major decision for Trenton over the Hornets Matthew Callen.
Coach Bacon credited Mark Trump getting into a “pretty good match” with Chillicothe’s Kayde Burton, a state-ranked opponent from Class 2. Burton picked up the 9-3 decision at 182 pounds. Trenton’s Noah Lewis was victorious over Chillicothe’s Kaleb Mullikin at 152 pounds, in a 12-2 major decision.
Chillicothe had forfeit victories in the dual from Sheldon Rader at 106 pounds, Jesee Greer at 132 pounds, and Donald McCracken at 160 pounds.  On-the-mat victories for the Hornets came from 113 pounder Connor Keithley, with a pin of Quincy Griffin at 4:45; Zackary Boyles at 120 pounds, with a pin of Canyon VonBurg at 1:53; Colton Sewell, pinning Brice Gibler in 2:21 at 126 pounds; Lavery Jones by pin of Payden McCullough at 1:02 at 138 pounds; Isaac Washburn, by 5-0 decision over Nick Wattenbarger at 170 pounds; and Keegan Valdez, a pin at 1:54 in the heavyweight match over Jarvis Collis.
