Trenton’s Gott finishes 1-2 at state tennis

In the Class 1 state tennis tournament in Springfield, Trenton High School senior Lexi Gott had one victory and two defeats.

On Friday afternoon, Gott opened with a 7-5, 6-4 loss ton Nevada High School’s Eden Fisher.  Fisher eventually placed third in the tournament.

Gott won her second match, late Friday afternoon, against Emma Neiding of Boonville, 6-4, 6-4, before coming back on Saturday morning and falling to Alexia Phipps of Lamar High School 6-love, 6-1.  Phipps eventually placed seventh.

Elizabeth Barlow of Villa Duchesne defeated Emma Pawlitz of Lutheran South to win the individual Class 1 state championship, two sets to none.  Fisher defeated Hannah Helvey of Arcadia Valley for third.

Lexi Gott finished with a senior season record of 19-4 at THS.
