Class 1, Section 7 girls tennis competition was held on Wednesday afternoon in Warrensburg, with Chillicothe High School sending two singles players and a doubles team and Trenton having its #1 doubles team of Lexi Gott and Kendall Crowley, at the competition that including two Warrensburg doubles squads and two singles players from Marshall High School.
Needing a head-to-head victory to advance to state, Chillicothe’s doubles team of Hunter Keithley and Hannah Zimmerman rolled to victory in a match with Sadie Misner and Jessica Snare of Warrensburg, winning 6-3, 6-3. The result for Trenton’s Gott and Crowley was similar, although the match tipped the way of Rachel Beymer and Brooke Barker, as that Warrensburg duo advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
In singles play, it was a rough afternoon for Chillicothe, as Marshall’s Carlie Aldredge beat Delaney May 6-0, 6-0, while Marshall’s Hannah Pomerenke downed Macy Cavanah of Chillicothe 6-4, 6-0.
