Trenton High School freshman Salem Croy finished in 6th place in the Class 3 girls javelin competition on Friday, at the state meet in Jefferson City. Salem’s classmate, freshman Sydney Lynch, finished 13th.  Croy’s throw was measured at 104 feet, 1 inch, while Lynch went 91 feet, 8 inches.  Jessica Sader, a Knob Noster sophomore, won the javelin toss at 131 feet.

Other Day #1 highlights from Class 3 girls was Nikita Smith of Lawson advancing to Saturday’s finals in the 100 meter dash and 400 meter dash, and Chillicothe’s Whitney Clampitt finishing 4th in the 800 meter run.

Jaime Albertson of Chillicothe did not qualify for the final in the 100 meter hurdles, but a 4th place finish in the first heat was good for the 6th best qualifying time for Albertson, putting her in the 300 meter hurdles final on Saturday.

In the 400 meter dash, Cameron’s Khayla Hollingsworth finished 8th in the first heat, failing to qualify for the final.

In boy’s highlights, Chillicothe’s Brett Shaffer barely missed qualifying in the 110 hurdles.  The Hornet sophomore ran 4th in the first heat, but finished with the 9th best time in the two races combined, falling one slot short of advancing.  However, Shaffer ran very well in the 300 hurdle preliminaries, finishing second in Heat #1 (and 3rd overall), advancing to the final on Saturday.

In the pole vault, Chillicothe’s Kyle Ross was 6th, with Cameron’s Joseph Zinkand finishing 9th, and Chillicothe’s Bradley Mosier 11th.

In the discus, Chillicothe sophomore Walker Graves finished in 6th place.
