Class 3, District 16 All-District selections have been announced, with Trenton High School placing two players on both the girls and boys teams. The Trenton girls and Maryville boys won District 16 titles last Saturday afternoon at Lathrop High School, and will play tonight in Class 3 sectionals at Excelsior Springs.
Named All-District from the THS Lady Bulldogs are senior Whitley Richman and junior Ainsley Tolson. That duo is joined on the squad by East Buchanan’s Josie Fortney and Madison McCreary, Lathrop’s Annika Huitt and Deidra Sellers, Hamilton’s Nora Ford and McKauley Prothero, South Harrison’s Katey Wilhelm, and Brookfield’s Ashtin Williams. Both Williams and Richman are recruits for Jenni Croy’s program at North Central Missouri College.
Trenton boys named All-District 16 are seniors Connor Cotton and Spencer Harris. Jackson Golightly and John Zimmerman of Maryville are on the squad, along with the dynamic Penney Hornets duo of LaTroy Harper and Jaran Richman, East Buchanan’s Ethan Kilgore, Lathrop’s Brock Lewis and Conner Vanderkooi, and Bishop LeBlond’s Sean Davis.
The coaches of the District 16 champions earned District “Coach of the Year” honors, going to Trenton High School’s Brian Upton and Maryville High School’s Matt Stoecklein.
