Trenton started quickly on Thursday night at Cameron, getting 3 runs in the top of the first inning.  Jaylen Neff led off with a walk and was moved up to second by Ainsley Tolson. Salem Croy reached on an error, moving Neff to third. After courtesy runner Shayla Woodside stole second, Whitley Richman singled to left scoring both runners. Richman scored on a two out single up the middle by Mason Hooyman.
Cameron cut the score to 3-1 in the third inning, but starting pitcher Ainsley Tolson controlled the damage, getting the Bulldogs to the 5th inning up 3-1, when Neff and Tolson started the inning with walks and scored on a 3 run bomb to right field by Salem Croy, her 6th of the season. Trenton scored another run in the 5th after Taylor Richman doubled and came around to score when Jayden Roeder reached on a Dragon error.
Cameron would get two back in the bottom of the 7th to make the final score 7-3. Croy finished 3-4 with 3 RBI, Whitley and Taylor Richman, Hooyman and Tenna Roberts each added hits on the night. Ainsley Tolson picked up her 17th win of the season, just 2 hits while striking out 11.
Head Coach John Cowling commented, “Even though we only had 7 hits I was pleased with our approach at the plate tonight. Cameron has a senior pitcher who hasn’t given up many runs this year and to get 7 off her says something about our offense right now. I thought Ainsley threw well again tonight also.”
Trenton’s regular season finale will be at Chillicothe on Monday night at 5 o’clock, with coverage on Hot Country Z 101.7.
The THS JV scored a 4-3 comeback victory Thursday night against the Cameron Lady Dragons.  After scoring a run in the top half of the first Trenton would put themselves in a tough spot against a good Cameron team. Cameron hit a three-run home run to take a 3-1 lead. In the next three innings Trenton would chip away at the lead scoring a run in the second, third, and fourth innings take a 4-3 lead. They would hang on in the fifth to edge out the Lady Dragons.
Sarah Jordan was a big part of the comeback, laying down a perfect bunt to score a runner from third, and also had the go ahead single in the fourth inning. “Sarah had a great game for us.” JV Coach Kameron Cool said about the game. “She had great at-bats and played some really good defense tonight as well. We did a lot of little things well tonight. Our pitchers and defense made sure to keep us in the game and our offense grinded out some tough runs.”
Defensively, the THS pitching was strong. Ashten Whitaker went two innings, giving up three runs on just two hits, while striking out two. McKayla Blackburn threw the last three innings, giving up no runs on just one hit while striking out seven.
Sarah Jordan went 1-2 with two RBIs, Ashten Whitaker, Mackenzie McAtee and Lexi Whitaker all went 1-2 with a double, Sidney Lynch went 1-3 with an RBI.
