The Kirksville Lady Tigers stretched their winning streak to five matches, while keeping Trenton from evening its record, in a 25-10, 25-8 Thursday night sweep at Kirksville High School.  KHS, now 5-1, heads to the Fulton Tournament on Saturday.

JoJo Nichting had eight kills to pace the Tigers offense.  Trenton, 3-5 on the season, will play in the Lathrop Tournament on Saturday.  Placed in Pool C with Mid-Buchanan and Plattsburg, the Lady Bulldogs will play their first matches of the day at Lathrop Middle School, taking on Mid-Buch at 9 o’clock, and Plattsburg at 10:30.  Other schools in the 10-team tournament are (Pool B) East Buchanan, Lathrop, and Orrick, and (Pool C) Smithville, Cameron, Wellington-Napoleon, and North Platte.

While showing improvement with their volleyball program this season, Trenton ran into a buzzsaw in a strong Kirksville team, continuing Trenton’s season-long trend of losing on the road (0-5), and winning at home (3-0).  The Lady Bulldogs will look to end their road woes on Tuesday, playing the Hamilton Lady Hornets at the Penney High School gymnasium.

Trenton and Kirksville also met in middle school volleyball on Thursday night, although those games were played at TMS.  In the “B” game, Trenton lost 16-25, 25-10, 15-25.  Sarah Washburn had ten aces and a kill to led Trenton.  The Trenton Middle School “A” team was swept by Kirksville 9-25, 10-25.  Maci Lynch had two aces for the Trenton offense.
