The Trenton Lady Bulldogs played four matches on the volleyball hardwood of Lathrop High School on Saturday, finishing 0-4 with losses to the Mid-Buchanan Dragons, East Buchanan Bulldogs, Plattsburg Tigers, and the host Lathrop Mules.
The first three matches of the day were in pool play, with Mid-Buchanan downing THS in a competitive two-set sweep, 25-23, 25-20. Against East Buchanan, Trenton found early struggles in a 25-7, 25-12 loss, while Plattsburg downed the Lady Bulldogs 25-20, 25-16. In the bracketed match against Lathrop, Trenton earned the second set, winning 25-19, but lost the first set 25-21 and the deciding set 25-15.
Coach Brad Ewald described the event as a “rollercoaster” for his team, praising his team’s good showing against a 2nd-seeded Mid-Buchanan team, but describing the loss to Plattsburg as a “missed opportunity”. He added, “Overall we saw some really good things that we can hopefully capitalize on and start to do more consistently.”
