Trenton tennis sweeps Wentworth Red Dragons

The Trenton Bulldogs improved their tennis record on the 2016 spring season to 3-4, sweeping the Wentworth Red Dragons by a 9-0 score on Thursday afternoon.  Winning their singles matches for the Bulldogs by 10-1 scores were Bryce Whitney (over Delun Xu), Kade Ockenfels (over Jiahul Hou), Wyatt Neal (over Jiahao Hou), and Dylan May (over Derek Clevenger).  Nick Shields beat Robert Jordan 10-5 while Creed Houghton battled to a 10-7 win over Collier Pickvance.

In varsity doubles play, Shields and Houghton beat Hou and Hou 8-2, with Neal and May victorious over Pickvance and Clevenger by the same 8-2 final.  Whitney and Ockenfels teamed up for an 8-3 triumph over Jordan and Xu.

The schools played four JV doubles matches, with Trenton winning all four.  C.J. Sibbit teamed with Zack Maberry for a 6-1 win over Junhe Zhang and Tian Qing, then C.J. joined forces with Elijah Oyler for a 6-3 win over Li and X. Zhang.  Colten Hamilton and Weston Otto swept J. Zhang and Qing 6-love, with Dillon Parrack and Jeremy Elliott beating Haoshen Li and Xuchun Zhang by a 6-love final score.

The loss drops Wentworth Military Academy’s record to 1-4 this spring.
