Trenton sweeps titles at Milan junior high meet

The Trenton Middle School girls and boys won team titles at Thursday’s Milan junior high school track and field meet at Cal Hubbard Field.  First place finishes for the TMS girls came from Gracyn Rongey (girls 800 and 1600 meter runs), Faith Baker (girls 100 meter hurdles), the 4 by 400 relay team of Savannah Triplet, Victoria Swann, Megan Spencer, and Rongey, and the 4 by 800 group of Macy Lynch, Summer Ceradsky, Kierston Webb, and Katie Markell.  

Gracyn Rongey had a very strong night for the Lady Bulldogs, with personal bests in the 1600, 800, triple jump, and with her split in the 4 by 400 relay.

Runner-up finishes for the Trenton girls were Triplet in the 400, Rongey in the triple jump, Katie Markell in the 1600 and 800 meter runs, and the Lady Bulldogs entry in the 4 by 100 relay.

In third place were Shay Westerhoff (100 meter dash), the 4 by 200 relay team, and the Sprinter’s medley group of four.

The Trenton boys finished first in the six team event, with Tyler Siemer winning the 200 meter dash, Connor Crawford winning the title in the 1600, and victories from two relays, as Ian Elbert, Keegan Brown, Nicholas Smith, and Jarek Habelitz won the 4 by 100, while Thomas Lovell, Dylan Smith, Anthony Sanchez, and Coleman Griffin took the 4 by 800 win.

In runner-up positions for the TMS boys were Tyler Siemer (long jump and 100 dash), Keegan Brown (100 hurdles), Connor Crawford (800), and Trevor Murphy (shot put).  Both the 4 by 200 and 4 by 400 relay teams were second. 

Nicholas Smith was third in the 100 meter hurdles.

The next meet for the Trenton Middle School track teams will be Thursday, May 3rd at Putnam County Stadium in Unionville, as part of the Grand River Conference’s Eastern Division Relays.  The field events begin at 3:30, with running events at 4:30.
