Trenton splits four Saturday duals at Lexington, while two Lady Bulldogs make school history in first-ever girls districts

The Trenton High School boys wrestling team had two wins and two losses in the Lexington dual tournament on Saturday.  Trenton beat Tipton 46-24 and defeated Lexington 48-15.  Trenton lost to Lawson 60-12 and fell to Brookfield 45-24.

Trenton hosts Chillicothe on Monday night at 6 o’clock.  The Bulldogs compete in district competition on Friday, February 8th and Saturday, February 9th at Lafayette County High School in Higginsville.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) has held its first-ever district wrestling tournament for girls, that concluded Saturday night across the Show-Me State.

There is just one class for girls wrestling in 2018-2019, with four districts.  The top two finishers at the district level advance to state competition.

Girls from high schools in north-central and northwest Missouri competed in District 4, hosted by Smithville High School over the weekend.

Trenton High School senior Teresa Burkholder had one win and two losses, while junior Libby Fewins was 0-2.  Coach Bacon spoke first about Burkholder’s season:

Smithville accumulated 135 points to the District 4 team championship in their own facility.  Staley was second with 103 points, and Marceline third at 93.  Lawson was sixth at 68, with Cameron eighth with 46, and Maysville 12th at 40 points.  There were 39 schools in the District 4 girls wrestling tournament at Smithville High School.
