Trenton’s offense, for the second time in three nights, started an early onslaught, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning on Thursday night against the Princeton Lady Tigers.
In a Grand River Conference East contest played at Johnson Memorial Field, senior Jaylen Neff led off with a hit by pitch and scored on Ainsley Tolson’s RBI double. Salem Croy drove home Tolson when she reached on a Tiger error and scored on an RBI double by Whitley Richman. Richman came around to score on a ground out by Mason Hooyman.Â
Trenton added 2 more to the rally in the second when Croy doubled and Richman singled with both runners scoring when Taylor Richman reached on another Tiger error to make the score 6-0.Â
Trenton continued to extend the lead, scoring 3 more in the third when Tolson singled home Tenna Roberts and Croy hit a 2 run bomb to left center, her first home run of the season, making the score 9-0.Â
Shayla Woodside capped off the scoring in the 4th when she scored on an RBI ground out by Jayden Roeder. Â On the night, Tolson, Richman and Croy each went 2-3 at the plate.
 Â
Perhaps overlooked with Trenton’s big bats providing plenty of pop, the sophomore Ainsley Tolson allowed only a lead-off single to Princeton, and then nothing else over her five innings of shutout work, walking three and striking out 12 batters.
