The Trenton Bulldogs beat North Andrew on Monday night, claiming a 19-14 eight inning triumph for the second victory for THS against North Andrew in three days.  The win improves the THS baseball record to 8-8.

Unlike Saturday’s third place game of the Mid-Buchanan Tournament, dominated (12-2) by Trenton, North Andrew jumped out to leads of 2-1 after the first inning and 10-6 after three innings.  Trenton tied the score at 10 with four runs in the top of the 4th inning, with the teams battling back-and-forth from there.

Both teams matched one another with one run in the 5th inning, with North Andrew taking a 12-11 lead with a tally in the home 6th.  However, the Cardinals reliever Simmons was unable to slam the door, as the Bulldogs rallied for three 7th inning runs.  However, North Andrew returned the favor with two runs against Avery Cooksey in the home 7th, sending the game to extra inning tied at 14.  Trenton’s five-run outburst in the visitors 8th slammed the door on the Cardinals victory hopes.

The game was played at Savannah due to the unavailability of North Andrew’s baseball facility in Rosendale.

Pitching two innings each for Trenton were Colton Colston, Jesse Farmer, Hunter Dugan, and Avery Cooksey, with Cooksey earning the victory.  Cooksey, hitting leadoff, scored four runs for the Bulldogs, reaching base three times on a hit and two walks.  Colston was 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and three RBI’s, Drew Rorebeck was 2-for-5 with three runs scored, Spencer Harris 3-for-4 with three runs scored and 3 RBI’s, while Hunter Dugan and Jaren Whitney both scored twice.

North Andrew’s pitching staff walked 12 batters over eight innings, with the Bulldogs even poorer throwing for strikes, walking 16 batters.  Trenton committed seven errors to North Andrew’s four.  Both teams had 11 hits.
