Sometimes in the course of a softball season, a team will meet somebody athletic and talented, with the hope that they will be able to spring an unexpected upset, perhaps helped by the favored team “overlooking” that game on the schedule.  Unfortunately for the South Harrison Lady Bulldogs, they, on Tuesday night, ran into Trenton on the wrong date, with a highly-motivated Bulldog team rolling into Bethany smarting off of a rare loss, and looking to get back into the win column.

The focus and motivation from the two-time defending GRC champions was on full display, with Trenton cruising to a 17-0, five inning win over South Harrison, improving to 8-1 on the season, and a perfect 4-0 in GRC Eastern Division play, dropping the Bethany side to 1-2 in GRC play.

Ainsley Tolson held South Harrison to three hits in the shutout win, while Trenton’s powerful hitters light up the scoreboard, with sophomore Maci Moore homering in a 3 for 5, 5 RBI night.  Senior Salem Croy added a round-tripper in going 2 for  with 3 RBI’s, while Tolson also homered for THS, part of a 3 for 4 effort for the senior.  Taylor Richman was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate for Trenton, with Mykah Hurley adding two hits in three plate appearances.  Tolson, Hurley, and Richman all had two RBI’s, while Gracyn Rongey added an RBI in the Bulldog onslaught.

Trenton opened the scoring with three runs in the first and second innings, then ran away from the Bethany side with seven runs in the third, before adding a single run int he 4th, and three more in the 5th in a 17-hit attack.

Trenton will begin a run of home games on Thursday night, hosting Polo at 5:30, with Lawson in town on Monday, and Milan on Tuesday (5:30 PM on Hot Country Z 101.7).  South Harrison will travel to Milan to play the Lady Wildcats on Thursday night at 5:30, with King City (Monday), Gallatin (Tuesday), and Putnam County (Thursday 9/20) all set to travel to Bethany next week.

The Trenton JV remains in search of their first win of 2018, falling to South Harrison on Tuesday night, 4-3.

South Harrison jumped out to the 3-0 advantage, holding that lead until Trenton responded in the 4th inning.  Singles from Teya Cooksey, Chloe Harris, and Gracyn Rongey, with a pair of late-inning walks added in, tied the game at 3.  South Harrison scored the deciding run in the home 4th, and took the win.

JV Coach Kameron Cool told KTTNSports.com, “Our defense played great tonight.  We keep seeing improvement, but we are ready to take that next step and start getting some wins.”

The Trenton Middle School softball team lost to South Harrison, 11-2.  Ivy Foster drove in the runs for TMS with a two-run single.  In game 2, TMS lost 8-1, with the Trenton run scored by Summer Martin, who singled and came around to home plate.  The TMS girls host Polo on Thursday night at Johnson Field.
