The Penney Lady Hornets and Trenton Lady Bulldogs, less than 10 months removed from a Hamilton upset win on Trenton’s field in last year’s softball district final, could have a rematch in the 2018 postseason, with Jim Dickey’s and John Cowling’s programs matched with three other schools in Class 2, District 16.

Joining Penney and Trenton in the district pairings are Penney’s KCI Conference rival, the Lady Cards of Lawson High School, and two rivals of Trenton’s in the Grand River Conference, in the Polo Lady Panthers and the South Harrison Lady Bulldogs.  This year’s District 16 tournament will be played at Penney High School’s softball field in Hamilton.

The powerhouse Lathrop Lady Mules will highlight an All-KCI Conference Class 2, District 15, with the Lady Mules joined by East Buchanan, Mid-Buchanan, North Platte, Plattsburg, and West Platte.
