Trenton tied for 5th place in the girls division and 8th in the boys standings on Saturday in the Marceline Mat Classic.
Top performances by the THS boys included Hunter McAtee placing 2nd at 106 pounds with a 3-1 record. Brice Gibler was 3-2 at 126 pounds, finishing 3rd. Mark Trump was 3-2 at 182 pounds to place 3rd. Kaden Owen was 2-2 and 152 pounds to finish 3rd. All of those results were in the A Pool for Coach Charlie Bacon:
Payden McCullough was 2-1, placing runner-up at 138 pounds in the B Pool.
In girls competition, Faith Baker was 4-1 to place 2nd at 152 pounds. Elizabeth Fewins was 3-1 at 187 pounds to finish second.
The Lady Bulldogs tied for 5th place among 11 schools in the team standings. Marceline was first with 58 points. Lawson was second with 51, followed by Brookfield with 34 and Higginsville at 27. The Trenton and Versailles girls each had 24 points, followed by Centralia, Gallatin, Macon, Lexington, and Carrollton.
The Trenton Bulldogs were eighth among 11 schools with 28 points. Centralia was the champion with 78 points, Gallatin second with 73, and Higginsville third with 45. The order continued with Versailles followed by Lexington, Moberly, Lawson, Trenton, Brookfield, Macon, and Carrollton. Marceline did not field a boys team because of the extended football season for the Tigers that reached the state semifinals.
Trenton has 17 boys and five girls on its 2019-2020 squad, with the Bulldog season continuing on Tuesday night with triangular season at Gallatin High School, involving Gallatin and South Harrison.
The Trenton Kids Wrestling Club participated in the Macon Youth Wresting Tournament over the weekend. Results included:
