The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates, just 48 hours removed from being swept by Jefferson and seeing an eight-game winning streak end, got back on the “winning beam” on Sunday afternoon, taking a pair of wins over St. Charles Community College at Mark Griffin Memorial Field in Trenton.

The victories improve North Central’s record to 23-11 overall, and 10-4 in Region 16 play, while bouncing St. Charles to 6-17 overall, and 4-15 in region competition.

Freshman second baseman McKinley Hurley had a dominant day at the plate, and on the bases, for North Central.  In the opener (a 12-3 Lady Pirate victory), Hurley, a Trenton High School graduate from 2015, had two base hits, two stolen bases, and two runs scored.  Shortstop Rachael Balke had three RBI’s and two hits, including a home run for NCMC.  In four plate appearances, sophomore Madi Trump, another Trenton native on the squad, had two singles, two base on balls, and scored a pair of runs.  Left fielder TeriAnna Mohler was 2 for 3, with two runs scored, three RBI’s, a double and a triple.

Starting pitcher Jessica Stupar was solid from the circle, earning the victory to improve to 11-6, giving up three runs and four hits in five innings, striking out three.

Game two was much tighter, with North Central using the power of three high-scoring innings to take down St. Charles 9-6.  Trump’s bat sizzled in the second game, cracking a home run, double, and single in four at-bats, driving in 5 runs and scoring twice.  Hurley, in four at-bats, had a single, double, triple, and walk, scored three times, and drove in a run.  Mohler and Balke hit a home run each for the Lady Pirates, while lead-off hitter and center fielder Courtney Seymour was 2 for 4, with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Madi Trump’s season and career is quickly becoming one for the record books at North Central Missouri College.  Sunday’s performance has Trump with 12 home runs and 58 RBI’s this season, along with 25 doubles (all single season NCMC records).  Madi’s career marks of 40 doubles and 96 RBI’s are also new school records.

The Lady Pirates hit the road for non-region competition on Tuesday afternoon, traveling to Creston, Iowa to play the Southwestern Community College Lady Spartans.  Doubleheader game times from Creston will be 3 and 5 o’clock.
