The Trenton Middle School track and field team scored 91 points on Monday, winning the girls division of the South Harrison Junior High Relays in Bethany. Â The Worth County Lady Tigers were runner-up with 82 points, followed by Hamilton with 80, Albany at 73, and Lawson with 38 1/2 points.
Other schools in the events came from Gallatin, Maysville, South Harrison, Braymer, Princeton, Polo, North Harrison, King City, Gilman City, and Newtown-Harris.
For the TMS girls, Kristi Ewing had a superb day, finishing 1st in the 100 meter dash (14.25 seconds) and 200 meter dash (29.45 seconds). Â Ewing was also a part of the winning 4 by 100 relay, joining Gwyneth Foster, Maci Moore, and Emma Curtis and recording a winning time of 56.15 seconds.
Maci Moore was first individually in the shot put, with a throw of 36 feet and 8 inches. Â Moore was 2nd in the discus and 3rd in the triple jump. Â Curtis was 4th in the long jump, while Gracyn Rongey was 6th in the triple jump and 1600 meter run, while Haylee Coplen was 6th in the 800 meter run.
The 4 by 200 relay team from Trenton (Emma Curtis, Elliana Gaunt, Emilee Lovell, Gwyneth Foster) was 2nd, matching the runner-up finish of the 4 by 400 relay squad (Rongey, Curtis, Gaunt, Foster) from TMS.
The Trenton Middle School girl’s next track and field competition is Thursday afternoon at Putnam County.
