The Trenton Lady Bulldog volleyball team, coming off a two-set sweep of Hamilton on Monday night, hit the road on Tuesday, aiming for back-to-back wins against KCI Conference competition.

Unfortunately for Trenton, the story in Plattsburg came out very similar to the Lady Bulldogs trip last week at Lawson, with Trenton claiming the middle set, but falling in a three-set duel to the Lady Tigers, by the final score of 25-23, 22-25, 25-22.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Melea Farmer had a superb defensive night, with 10 digs and 8 assists, with two aces and a kill.  Allena Allen had 8 digs, with Karli Provorse putting eight kills down to the floor, along with three blocks and three digs.  Teresa Burkholder had three digs and three kills, while Shawna Coplen, in perhaps her best night as a Bulldog, added 13 digs, six assists, and three kills.

Sadee Jackson had nine kills and seven digs, with Haylee Coplen successfully digging three volleyballs, with Evy McCullough adding a pair of kills.

Looking for their second win of the season, Trenton returns home on Thursday night, hosting the Carrollton Lady Trojans at 5 o’clock.  Next Tuesday, September 5th, Tom Johnson will call the THS varsity home match with the South Harrison Lady Bulldogs, with coverage expected to start on Hot Country Z 101.7 at approximately 6 o’clock.  The Lady Bulldog will travel to Kirksville to play the Tigers on Thursday, September 7th.

On Tuesday night, Carrollton struggled against Lawson, falling in straight sets, 25-11, 25-10, perhaps a positive sign for a Trenton team now preparing for Carrollton, that took that same Lawson squad to three sets earlier this season.

St. Joseph Benton beat Riverside on Tuesday night, 25-10, 25-10, 25-12, rebounding from a Monday night MEC defeat at the hands of Maryville, 25-20, 25-12.

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets blitzed the host Brookfield Lady ‘Dogs in volleyball action, winning 25-11, 25-14.  Elli Ross paced the Lady Hornet offense with a 9 point, 10 ace, 27 assist night. Kaycee Lewis and Ruthie Vinson both had 11 kills for CHS.
