The Trenton junior varsity girls cruised to a 44-11 victory, while the boys absorbed their first loss of the season, in action against the visiting Penney JV Hornets on Thursday night at Trenton High School.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored Penney 14-2 in the first quarter, and extended the lead in the second on the strength of a trio of three-point shots by Kennedy Norton, going to halftime up 23-7. Norton finished with 14 and Lexi Whitaker 12 for Trenton, while McKayla Blackburn had eight.
The Trenton boys led 22-18 at halftime, but late free throws by the Hornets forced overtime, with the teams tied at 34, before Bulldog struggles in the extra session helped give PHS a 41-37 win. Kade Ockenfels paced Trenton with 13 points while Isaac Harris added 12.
