Trenton got back in the win column Tuesday at Brookfield. The Lady Bulldogs got off to a quick start in the top of the first when Jaylen Neff walked, Ainsley Tolson singled, Salem Croy drove home Neff with a single, Whitley Richman drove home Tolson and Croy, Jayden Roeder drove in Richman with a single, Lexi Whitaker singled, Mykah Hurley walked and Tenna Roberts drew a bases loaded walk, all combining to make score 5-0.
Trenton was not done in the first, as Neff drove in Whitaker with a sacrifice fly to make it 6-0, and Hurley scored on an error to cap the 7 run inning. Roeder led off the third inning with a double and scored on Tenna Roberts’ RBI single to make the score 8-0. Roberts stole second, advanced to third on an error and made the score 9-0 when she scored on a wild pitch.
Mason Hooyman led off the sixth inning with a single, Ainsley Tolson doubled, Croy singled home Hooyman, and Sidney Lynch finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center to score Tolson. Brookfield picked up an unearned run in the 6th to make the score 11-1.
Tolson, Croy, Whitley Richman, Roeder, and Lexi Whitaker had 2 hits each. Neff, Roberts, Ashten Whitaker and Hooyman each collected hits to round out the 14 hit attack.
McKayla Blackburn picked up her 5th win of the season, allowing no earned runs on 3 hits while striking out 4, leading Coach John Cowling to comment, “We did a good job bouncing back from Monday’s loss. We had better at bats tonight and our defense was better. This was McKayla’s best start of the year. “
Trenton plays at Cameron on Thursday night, with the varsity game at 5 o’clock, followed by the JV game.
The THS JV defeated the Brookfield Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night by the score of 9-8.
Trenton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first, but gave the lead right back in the bottom of the inning, going down 3-2. The third inning would prove to be the difference maker when THS plated six runs. They would add one more run in the sixth and manage to hang on defensively for a 9-8 victory.
Ashten Whitaker pitched all five innings, giving up eight runs, only four of which were earned, while striking out four.
JV Coach Kameron Cool, in comments provided to KTTN, exclaimed “We made a lot of mistakes tonight but found a way to win! Our offense was sharp and picked our defense up in a big way.”
Ashten Whitaker led THS going 2-3 with two doubles and an RBI, and her sister Lexi also had a big night going 2-2 with a triple and an RBI. Kendall Crowley went 1-3 with two-RBIs and Mackenzie McAtee went 1-2 with an RBI.
Trenton Middle School’s softball teams took on Brookfield on Tuesday night as well, with the Trenton A team falling by a score of 23-3. Gracyn Rongey, Maci Moore, and Chloe Harris all had hits for Trenton, with Moore connecting on a home run and scoring twice.
Brookfield beat the TMS “B” team 6-2. Rongey, Bailey Catron, Jaycie Griffin, and Jilliann Nichols all had base hits for Trenton.
