Trenton High School Athletics Director Wes Croy has informed KTTN/KGOZ that the first pitch for Saturday’s Lathrop at Trenton Class 2 state quarterfinal game will be 4 o’clock from Mark Griffin Memorial Field at the Ebbe Sports Complex in Trenton. A press release announced the start time, and plans to alleviate anticipated congestion from the softball game and the Missouri Day Festival occurring simultaneously.
The press release reads:
“The students, staff, and community of the Trenton R-IX School District are proud of the Trenton High School Lady Bulldog softball team for their win over the Marceline Tigers on Wednesday, October 12th. This win allows the Lady Bulldogs to host the Lathrop Lady Mules in the MSHSAA Class 2 Quarterfinal game on Saturday, October 15th. First pitch will be at 4:00 pm at the Ebbe Sports Complex.
Due to the Missouri Day Festival and the Marching Band competitions, the Trenton R-IX School District would like to share information regarding logistics of holding the two outstanding events at the same time, and in the same location.
- The game will be at 4:00 PM, on Saturday, October 15th. The gates at Griffin Field will open at 2:30 PM. Cost of admission is $7.00 per fan and no passes will be allowed.
- With assistance from the Trenton Parks Department, the area surrounding Griffin Field will be FENCED OFF to non-paying visitors. Missouri Day visitors and marching bands are asked to travel AROUND Johnson Field when walking from the C.F. Russell Stadium and North Central Missouri Fairgrounds areas to the Trenton High School gymnasium and parking lot. The softball game should be completed by 6:30 PM, and visitors will again be allowed to travel between the two softball fields.
- Stadium seating will be provided for fans attending the game, but fans are asked to bring lawn chairs for overflow seating in the outfield.
- Parking : Due to the large crowds at the Missouri Day Festival, parking will be FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis at the various lots around Trenton High School. Please arrive early at the event to give yourself time to walk to the field. Carpooling is encouraged!
- A limited concession will be available at Johnson Field, but visitors are invited to patronize the many food vendors that will be located next to the field.
