The Trenton Bulldog boys wrestlers defeated Brookfield 36-31 and Richmond 46-30 in dual matches on Tuesday evening at Brookfield High School.
Head coach Charlie Bacon told KTTN Sports that he was “really proud of the boys wrestled”, adding “Nate Burkeybile camer through with a huge pin at 195 that we had to have to seal the deal against Brookfield!”
Against Brookfield, eight of the 14 matches were decided by forfeit, with points awarded to Hunter McAtee, Gaven Kelsall, Caleb Johnson, and Kaden Owen of Trenton, and Colton Parn and Jaden Abongo of Brookfield. The 106 and 113 pound weight classes were double forfeits.
The head-to-head victories for THS came from a pin from Nate Burkeybile, against Coner Simons, at 1:56 into their 195 pound match. Coleman Griffin of Trenton, at 152 pounds, pinned Max Alexander at the 1:56 mark.
For Brookfield, Gambal Staddie pinned Gavin Chambers at 126 pounds, Donovan Parn pinned Brice Gibler at 138 pounds in 1:56. Dawson Baker grabbed a 12-0 major decision over Sam Gibson at 182 pounds. At heavyweight, Brookfield’s Peyton Armstrong shutout Kael Brock, 4-0.
Against Richmond, Trenton’s wins came from Hunter McAtee, by 11-2 major decision over Conner Teat at 120 pounds, Gavin Chambers by pin of Gabriel Baker at 126, Brice Gibler by pin of Monty Nelson at 138, Coleman Griffin by pin at 160, Kaden Owen by pin at 170, Sam Gibson by pin at 182, and Caleb Johnson by pin at 220. The Bulldogs got forfeit points from Gaven Kelsall.
For Richmond, Ricky Russ, Elijah Sanders, and Cayden Morris won by forfeit. Ryker Plymell, at 195 pounds, pinned Trenton’s Burkeybile. Ay heavyweight, Zane Renfro of the Spartans pinned Trenton’s Brock at the 1:01 mark of their match.
Trenton will join Lawson and Maysville in traveling to Maryville High School for a Thursday night quadrangular, with action from the Spoofhounds home gym starting at 5:30.
In other boys wrestling results, the Chillicothe Hornets beat the Benton Cardinals 54-20. The Hornets had mat wins from Brody Carins, Dawson Sutton, Brock Miller, Lucas Reynolds, Wade Horton, Joel Edwards, Sheldon Rader, Justin Pyle, and Bryce Dominique.
The Brookfield girls wrestlers beat Trenton 12-6. At 117 pounds, Diana Linscott got a pin over Mercy Schweizer, scoring points for the home side. Oscarina Jackson of Brookfield, at 159 pounds, pinned Allison Yoder of Trenton.
Trenton beat Richmond 18-6. All matches were decided by forfeit. Â
