Trenton golf starts strong with home win against Marceline

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs threatened the 200 mark, but came up eight strokes short, looking impressive in a season-opening victory over the Marceline Lady Tigers on Monday afternoon at Riverside Country Club.  Trenton’s team score of 207 easily outdistanced Marceline’s 255, with Lana Raymo snaring medalist honors with a round of 47.  Highlights of Raymo’s nine-hole play were par’s on the par-3 sixth and par-5 ninth hole.

Other Trenton varsity scores were 52 for Werthen Gass, 54’s from Kaitlyn Mounce and Jordain Oshel, and a 56 from Hannah Kennebeck.  

Two players for the Lady Bulldogs represented the junior varsity, with both Maci Henson and Oakley Madden playing well, as Henson shot 57 and Madden 62.

All five varsity scores for Marceline placed in the 60’s, with Cupp shooting 62, Sheffield and Blanton both 63, and White and Sheerman both at 67.

Trenton hosts Brookfield on Tuesday afternoon, with action at 4 o’clock at Riverside Country Club.
