The Trenton Lady Bulldogs combination of dazzling half-court defense and a devastating transition game overwhelmed the South Harrison Lady Bulldogs on Friday night, as the #2 ranked team in the state (Class 3) walloped their rivals from Bethany, 86-26, in a Grand River Conference game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.
THS jumped out early and often on the home team, with 31 first-quarter points and 32 in the third quarter, part of the onslaught by the Lady Bulldogs. Junior guard Mykah Hurley had 24 points for Trenton, continuing to be more and more of a noticeable force in a loaded backcourt. Here is Head Coach Brian Upton:
Hurley’s back-court mate, Ainsley Tolson, had 15 points in the win, with senior small forward Ashten Whitaker breaking out of a recent shooting slump with 11 points on four two-point and one three-point field goal. Ten Trenton girls scored in the win, with Lexi Whitaker and Salem Croy both contributing eight points:
South Harrison, now 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the GRC East, had six points from Hailey Henry and Milaynie May. Trenton’s record is now 8-0, with THS in a first-place battle on Tuesday night at Gallatin (6 PM / KGOZ FM 101.7) and a Holiday Hoops showdown with St. Joseph Benton at the Ketcham Community Center (Friday / 7:30 PM / KTTN FM 92.3). South Harrison will host Putnam County on Tuesday night.
