The last high school basketball poll of January was released on Tuesday afternoon by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association, with three area teams, all unbeaten, remaining highly-ranked in their respective classes.  In Class 3, the Trenton Lady Bulldogs, despite not playing last week due to the weather-caused cancellation of the Hamilton Tournament, moved up to #2, as the previous #2 ranked Licking lost to Salem, 57-42 on Friday, January 18th.  Although not a consideration in the latest rankings, Licking, last night (Tuesday, January 29th), suffered its third loss of the season, falling to the Hartville Lady Eagles, 42-39.  Licking came into that contest ranked #3 in the newest Class 3 poll.  The three-time Class 3 state champions from Strafford High School remain the top-ranked team in the state for another week, sitting at 19-0 entering the final week of the month.

In Class 2, the GRC Eastern Division leading Milan boys are unbeaten and remain ranked #1 in the state.  A victory last night for the Wildcats at Gallatin pushed Milan’s record to 17-0, with games later this week at South Harrison (Thursday) and at home against Putnam County (Friday), both to be broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.  Mansfield is ranked #2 behind Milan, with the KCI Conference leading East Buchanan Bulldogs in the #3 possition.

In Class 1 boys, the Winston Redbirds, still unbeaten after a Tuesday night showdown win at Mercer, sit at the #2 position, behind only 18-1 Dora.  Mound City is ranked #3, with Jefferson sixth, Meadville eighth, and Northwestern 10th.

Here is a complete look at the latest MBCA poll, released on Tuesday, January 29, 2019:
