Trenton gets payback on Richmond, 61-44 in Hamilton quarterfinal

The Trenton Bulldogs continued to play their best basketball of the season, backing up Friday night’s home-from-behind victory over #3 Class 2 Milan with a 61-44 win over Richmond on Monday night, knocking out the #3 seed in the quarterfinal round of the Hamilton Basketball Tournament.

In action broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7, the Bulldogs rode a superb shooting night from Dylan Harris, who had a team-high 17 points, to the win.  Senior Lathan Croy added 13 for THS.  Richmond, a team that had bested Trenton by 20 points in the Lawson Tournament’s third place game on January 13th, had 17 points from Andre Prichett and 16 from Trevon Alexander.

The other boys quarterfinal played at Penney High School on Monday night went to the Lathrop Mules, in a 79-72 overtime final against the South Harrison Bulldogs.

Trenton’s win moves the Bulldogs into the semifinal round, and a meeting with either Hamilton or Gallatin on Thursday night at 9 o’clock on Hot Country Z 101.7.  Richmond will play the Hamilton/Gallatin loser on Wednesday night at 9.  Lathrop advances into the 6 o’clock semifinal on Thursday, against either top-seeded East Buchanan or Braymer.  South Harrison’s next game is Wednesday night at 6 in the consolation semifinals.

In boys quarterfinal action tonight (Tuesday night), East Buchanan plays Braymer at 6 o’clock, followed by Hamilton and Gallatin playing at 9.

The top-seeded girls squad from Trenton High School hammered South Harrison in Monday night action, 73-16, as Ainsley Tolson had 19 points, Maci Moore 17, Mykah Hurley 12, and Sidney Lynch 11 points.  THS moves into 4:30 semifinal (on Hot Country Z 101.7) this Thursday night, while South Harrison plays in the consolation semifinal at 7:30 on Wednesday evening.

The host Penney Lady Hornets took down Richmond on Monday night, 56-20, as McKauley Prothero had 17 points and Kassie Moore 12 for the Hamilton side.  Penney advances to a 7:30 semifinal on Thursday night, with the Lady Spartans of Richmond next in action on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30.

The girls quarterfinals on Tuesday night will feature East Buchanan against Lathrop (winner plays Trenton) at 4:30 and Gallatin opposite Braymer (winner plays Hamilton) at 7:30.
