The Trenton Bulldogs played host to the Gallatin Bulldogs on Monday night, with the two rival schools battling in middle school and junior varsity football action at C.F. Russell Stadium.
The JV game went to Trenton in a lopsided affair, 44-0. The host Bulldogs had their rushing game dominate the contest, with Braydon Hughs rumbling for 256 yards and five touchdowns, all coming in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Gabe Stark added 55 yards on the ground with two scores.
Collin Taylor added 35 yards passing, 26 to Braydon Wiggins and nine to Hunter McAtee.
Defensively, THS was strong, with fumble recoveries from Hughs, Tim Kempton, and Bo Meeker, and interceptions for Rudy Esparza and Wyatt Schneiderheinze.
In the middle school contest, Gallatin scored twice in the fourth quarter, with the game-breaking play coming on a 4th quarter blocked punt and touchdown return, in a 20-6 road win.
Both teams scored touchdowns in the second quarter to open the scoring, with Gallatin’s coming first on a seven yard scamper, answered by an 18-yard strike pass Aidan Weyer to Devin Baker.
Tied at 6, the blocked punt and return made the score Gallatin 12, Trenton 6, with the conversion failing. Gallatin added insurance late with a 16 yard touchdown run and successful two point conversion.
