The Trenton Lady Bulldogs, with two tune-up contests prior to district play beginning on Saturday afternoon, lost to a strong Class 1 program in St. Joseph Christian on Monday night, by scores of 25-10, 25-14, and 25-18. Head coach Brad Ewald called it the “same serve-receive story”, with the inability to consistently provide a strong first pass resulting in lack of aggressiveness at the net.
Ava Simpson led Trenton with three aces, four digs, four assists, and one kill; with Ally Yoder adding six digs, three kills, and one ace.
St. Joseph Christian won the JV contest 25-16, 25-13.
Trenton will host Savannah for the Lady Bulldogs senior night tonight (Tuesday night), with action starting at 5 o’clock from the THS gymnasium.
Trenton, in district competition, has earned a #2 seed, and will matchup with #3 seed South Harrison in the district semifinals on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 at Bishop LeBlond High School in St. Joseph. The winner moves into the district championship match on Monday night, October 25th, against either #1 seed LeBlond, or in the event of a semifinal upset, Brookfield or Hamilton.
