The Trenton Bulldogs group of four shot a team score of 341 on Monday afternoon, finishing in a third-place tie with Kansas City Barstow in the Class 2, Section 4 boy’s golf tournament at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.Â
Section champion Bishop LeBlond (308) and runner-up Maryville will send their entire teams to next week’s Class 2 state tournament in Sedalia, by virtue of their top-2 finishes. Â In team standings, Butler was fifth (384), Lawson sixth (386), and Summit Christian Academy seventh (387) in the final standings.
Out of four Trenton players on the course, three shot scores good enough for invites to the state tournament. Â Senior Cree Mullenix shot 8-0ver par to finish in sixth place. Â Lathan Croy and Nate Swann both advance to state, after shooting identical scores of 12 over par, good for a 12th place tie. Â Trenton’s other score came from Corbyn Guile, with a round of 25 over par good for a 34th place tie.
LeBlond’s Brooks Jungbluth shot 2 over par to win sectional medalist honors, followed by Maryville’s Bryce Farlin at 5 over, and a third-place tie between LeBlond’s Sam Schanze and Barstow’s Tripp Walsworth, both at 6 over par.
Other area players advancing to the Class 2 state tournament are Brookfield’s Seth Gladbach (+13, 14th place tie) and East Buchanan’s C.J. Holdsworth (+15, 20th place tie).
