With all three players finishing in the top 15, the Trenton Bulldogs will send Lathan Croy, Nate Swann, and Corbyn Guile to next week’s Class 2 state golf tournament in Fremont Hills, as a result of Monday’s Class 2, Section 4 tournament at the Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.
The section championship goes to the Golden Eagles of Bishop LeBlond, with a score of 326, while MEC rival Maryville finished just 4 strokes back, in the runner-up position at 330.
Other teams in the sectional were 3rd place Summit Christian Academy (363), O’Hara (368), Penney High of Hamilton (372), and Archie (440). Â By virtue of their top two finishes, LeBlond and Maryville will send their entire squads to Fremont Hills, and be in the running for the state team championship. Â The other six teams will be Palmyra, Blair Oaks, Willow Springs, Saxony Lutheran, and California.
Hank Lierz of LeBlond was the sectional medalist on Monday, shooting a two-over par score of 73. Â Penney High School’s Ethan Green had the top area score, with 79, good for 4th place. Â From Trenton High School, Lathan Croy shot 81 for 6th place, Nate Swann 84 for 9th place, while Corbyn Guile made the cut with two shot to spare, shooting 88 to finish in a three-way tie for 15th place. Â Also included in that tie was South Harrison’s Grant Taylor, advancing the Bethany product to state.

In Class 3, Section 4 play at Excelsior Springs, Chillicothe’s Hayden Montgomery advanced to next week’s state tournament in Sedalia, shooting 9-over 81, good for a 6th place tie. Â Other CHS scores from sectionals, both missing the cut, were Peyton Moritz at 93 and Trevor Bowling at 102.
