Trenton Bulldog tennis shuts out Chariton Chargers, 9-0

The Trenton Bulldogs picked up their first tennis victory of the spring, defeating the visiting Chariton High School (Iowa) Chargers by a 9-0 final score at Trenton High School on Monday afternoon.

Three of the six Trenton varsity singles players won their matches by dominating finals of 9-love, with those wins going to Nick Shields, Wyatt Neal, and Gabe Swann.  Taking 8-1 wins for THS were Creed Houghton and Kade Ockenfels, while Jacob Davis survived by a score of 8-5 (against Kutsel of Chariton).

Trenton was nearly as dominant in doubles, with the teams of Shields and Davis, in addition to Neal and Swann, winning by 8-1 final scores.  Kade Ockenfels teamed with Creed Houghton for an 8-5 win.

The Bulldogs and Chargers met in three JV matches, two in singles play, where Jeremy Elliott took a 6-2 win for THS.  Weston Otto of Trenton lost his JV singles match 2-6, while the Trenton doubles entry of Colton Hamilton and Elijah Oyler fell by a final score of 4-6.

Trenton’s varsity win improves the Bulldogs season record to 1-1.
