Trenton boys tennis wins fourth consecutive duel, winning at Carrollton 7-2

The Trenton Bulldogs won four of six singles matches, and swept doubles competition, in a 7-2 victory on Friday afternoon at Carrollton High School against the host Trojans.  

Winning by 8-1 scores for the visiting Bulldogs were #1 singles player Nick Shields (over Bryce Fitzpatrick), #2 singles player Jacob Davis (over Noland Glenn), and #6 singles player Gabe Swann (over Tanner Overturf).  At #3 singles, Trenton’s Kade Ockenfels beat Payton Barry 8-2.

Carrollton’s singles wins were at #4, with Michael Greer defeating Wyatt Neal 8-2, and #5, where Cawyer Davis took a hard-fought 8-6 win over Creed Houghton.

The #3 Trenton doubles team of Neal and Swann swept Glenn and Overturf 8-love, with Shields and Davis winning 8-5 (over Fitzpatrick/Davis), and Ockenfels and Houghton grinding out an 8-6 win over Barry and Greer.

In JV competition, Jeremy Elliott of THS beat Joshua Rich of Carrollton 6-2, and teamed with Weston Otto for a 6-3 win over Lucas Brownley and Joshua Rich.  Brownley, in JV singles play, picked up a win for the Trojan side, 6-4, over Trenton’s Colten Hamilton.

The win improves the Trenton varsity record of 4-1, dropping Carrollton to 3-6.
