Trenton boys rally for win at Gallatin in GIT semifinals, setting up title rematch with Winston

For the third straight December, the Class 1 Winston Redbirds will battle the Class 3 Trenton Bulldogs for the championship hardware in the Gallatin Invitational Tournament, after both boys teams took semifinal victories on Thursday night.

Down by a score of 38-34 heading into the fourth quarter, the THS boys rallied for a dramatic 53-50 victory over the host Gallatin Bulldogs, with Carson Radcliff leading the way with 18 points, while Dylan Harris hit two three-pointers as part of an 11 point night.  Gallatin senior point guard Jett Simmons had a strong game with 25 points, with Colin Beck scoring 11.

In the first semifinal of the night, Winston guard Jacob Lewis dropped 40 points on the Braymer Bobcats, in a 60-46 win for the Redbirds.  Cy Uthe added 16 for Winston, the #1 seed in the GIT.  Gabe Rogers had 20 points and Keaton O’Dell 11 for Braymer.

In the boys consolation final, the Polo Panthers will battle the Maysville Wolverines tonight (Friday night) at 5:45.  Gallatin will host Braymer in the boy’s third place game, Saturday at noon, with Trenton and Winston battling for the boy’s championship, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 on Hot Country Z 101.7 (with audio streaming available from KTTNSports.com).
