The Gallatin Bulldogs did not make the task an easy one, but the Trenton girls and boys basketball teams won a pair of low-scoring basketball games on Tuesday night at the THS gymnasium, improving to a perfect 2-0 in Grand River Conference competition.

The #10 ranked (Class 3, MBCA) Trenton Lady Bulldogs struggled on the offensive end, but the traditionally strong THS defense held firm, leading Brian Upton’s squad to a 39-29 victory, the second against Gallatin within the last 2 1/2 weeks.  Future NCMC Lady Pirate Whitley Richman paced Trenton’s offense with 10 points, while Ainsley Tolson contributed nine.  Trenton, with the victory, improves to 8-1 overall.

Gallatin’s girls drop to 6-2 overall (both losses to Trenton) and 1-1 in the GRC East, as sophomore Karley Salmon led the visiting side with 10 points. Cora Stout added six.

The Trenton boys defeated Gallatin 46-36, taking a second straight hard-earned conference victory.  The THS Bulldogs picked up 18 points from Spencer Harris, 14 from Connor Cotton, and eight points from Corbyn Guile.  Gallatin’s Jett Simmons led his side with a 15 point outing, while Gabe Cole added seven.  The Gallatin Bulldogs, in their first season under Coach Justin Collins, fall to 3-5 overall, and 0-2 in conference play.

Tuesday night’s doubleheader was broadcast locally on Hot Country Z 101.7.
