Trenton High School alum Madi Stillwell (Trump) took the softball job at her alma mater over the offseason, and will be the on-the-field leader, along with fellow Lady Bulldog alum, assistant coach Whitley Richman, in bringing THS softball into the 2021 season.  On Monday morning, 22 young ladies arrived at Mark Griffin Memorial Field, ready to start practice for the soon-arriving campaign.

Even before the season began, the Lady Bulldogs hit adversity, as the most established pitcher on the roster, senior Jenna Reeter, tore a knee ligament, meaning a much less experienced group of throwers for Coach Stillwell to lean on this fall:

One of the aspects of success with Trenton softball since the early 2000s came from early teaching of the sport to girls growing up in the area.  As girls moved into the middle school and junior high school years, that meant staying with the sport in “summer ball”.  It is a tradition with the sport that Coach Stillwell herself grew up in:

Trenton opens the softball season at the Cameron Tournament, to be held on Friday, August 27th and Saturday, August 28th.  The final few days of August stay busy for THS, with the home opener against the Albany Lady Warriors on Monday, August 30th, followed by an early-season Grand River Conference test against the team that stopped Trenton’s run of dominance with back-to-back GRC Eastern Division titles, playing at Putnam County on Tuesday, August 31st.
