Trenton advances Lewis, Trump, and Whitney to state wrestling championships

Three Trenton High School wrestlers have advanced to the Boys Class 1 state tournament in Columbia.  Noah Lewis at 160 pounds, Mark Trump at 170, and Jadan Whitney at 195 all placed second at the Class 1, District 3 Tournament in Higginsville on Saturday.

Jadan Whitney captured his 151st career victory during the tournament, won by Marceline with 205 1/2 points.  Brookfield was a distant second with 129.5.  Tolton Catholic was third with 119, with Trenton seventh at 80 points.  There were 15 schools.

Nine Gallatin High School wrestlers advanced to the Class 1 tournament, with Graydee Rains winning the 220 pound championship at the District 4 tournament in Lathrop on Saturday.

Finishing second for GHS were Andon Allen at 106, Ross Critten at 120, Ayden Wayne at 126, Tom Crouse at 160, and Drayton Harris at 170.

Rodell Sperry was third at 132 pounds.

Finishing fourth for the Bulldogs were Jacob Maize at 145 pounds and Owen Schweizer at 152.

Lathrop won the District 4 tournament in their own facility, racking up 212 points.  Mid-Buchanan was second at 177, Lawson third at 174, and Galatin fourth at 159.  Hamilton was fifth, Maysville sixth, and North Andrew 7th among the 15 school field.

The Chillicothe Hornets qualified nine for the Class 2 state tournament at Mizzou Arena.  During the District 4 tournament at Excelsior Springs High School, Connor Keithley at 120, Colton Sewell at 132, Matthew Callen at 220, and Keegan Valdez at heavyweight all finished second for the Hornets.

Coming in third for Chillicothe were Dawson Wheeler at 152, Donald McCracken at 182, and Isaiah Kille at 195.

Fourth place finishers for Chillicothe were Sheldon Rader at 106 and Aidan Zimmerman at 113 pounds.

Cameron won the Class 2, District 4 tournament with 193 points.  Excelsior Springs was second at 177, with Chillicothe tying Benton for third place at 160.  Maryville, with 109 1/2 points, was fifth.
