The Maysville Wolverines claimed a double digit lead by the early portions of the second quarter, and never let upset-minded Trenton back into the contest, winning Thursday night’s Gallatin Tournament boys semifinal, 69-43.
The win, Maysville’s second in as many games this season, saw 19 points from Kobyn Metzger, 17 points from Dillon Willis, and 10 points from Carson Bray. In falling to 1-3, Trenton was paced by Kiefer Tolson’s 17 points with Gabe Novak adding 11.
The Trenton girls had a better night against Maysville, leaning on stout defense and timely offense to rout the Lady Wolverines 56-21. Mirena King led the 2-2 Lady Bulldogs with 20 points. Keagan Croy added 14 with Astrid Soriano and Madi Moore both scored 10.
Winning other semifinal games on Thursday were the Gallatin girls over Polo and the Braymer boys over Polo.
Thursday night’s games involving the Trenton Bulldogs were broadcast on KGOZ FM 101.7.
