Trenton High School senior Ainsley Tolson became the leading scorer in the history of the Lady Bulldog basketball program, hitting a three-point shot late in the third quarter of Trenton’s 57-20 win over Gallatin, heard on Hot Country Z 101.7. Tom Johnson had the call of the record-setting moment:
Tolson’s shot gave her 1,391 points, one point ahead of the total of Rebekah Capeder, who played for Trenton earlier this decade. Scoring ten of her 17 points in the third, Tolson and the Lady Bulldogs moved to 9-0 overall, and 3-0 in the GRC with the home victory. Maci Moore and Mykah Hurley both scored 12 points for THS. Gallatin, in falling to 1-2 in GRC play, was led by forward Kelsey Maxwell with 12.
The boys game saw Gallatin outlast Trenton in a triple-overtime thriller, 60-54, with guard Tristen Gibson hitting seven of eight free throws in the overtime session, helping the visitors to their second GRC win in a row. Landon Corwin added 16 and Dylan Burns 11 for Gallatin (2-1 GRC). Trenton, falling to a mark of 4-5 overall and 1-2 in GRC action, was paced by 23 points from senior Dylan Harris. Max McNabb added 10.
