The Trenton High School Lady Bulldog tennis team won five of six singles matches from Carrollton on Tuesday afternoon, with a sixth match won by forfeit, in the conclusion of an afternoon paused by heavy rain earlier this month at THS.
Winning for Trenton were Lexi Gott at #1 singles, 8-love over Emily Goetting, with Alaina Overton, at #4 singles, winning by the identical 8-love sweep. At #3 singles, Mallory Sole beat Naedy Jenkins, 8-1, while Emilee Lovell, at #5 singles, beating Kaitlyn Burns, 8-1. The closest match of the night was Morgan Dolan of Trenton, at #2 singles, outlasting Carrollton’s Sabrina Corzette, 8-5.
Carrollton’s #6 singles player is a multi-sport fall athlete who was unavailable for the trip to Trenton on Tuesday, meaning that Trenton’s Harley Hall won by forfeit.
Earlier this month, heavy rains had hit Trenton High School after doubles competition was completed, but before singles. In doubles results, Trenton had three 8-1 victories, coming from Lexi Gott and Morgan Dolan (over Emily Goetting and Sabrina Corzette), Mallory Sole and Alaina Overton (over Savannah Reinke and Naedy Jenkins), and Emilee Lovell and Harley Hall (over Taylor Gunn and Emily Sprouse).
