The Trenton Lady Bulldogs beat the East Buchanan Lady Bulldogs on Friday night at Penney High School, in the semifinals of the Class 3, District 16 tournament. The win, Trenton’s 26th of the season, came in difficult fashion, with East Buchanan leading for a significant portion of the first half. By the second half, Trenton’s depth and quickness took control of the game, ending East Buchanan’s year.
Ainsley Tolson led THS with 23 points, with Mykah Hurley scoring 15, and Sidney Lynch 12 points. For East Buchanan, Madison McCreary had 12 points, Madisyn Ishmael 11, and Samantha White 10 points.
Trenton’s girls will play rival Penney in the Class 3, District 16 championship game in Hamilton (Saturday at 4:30 PM) on Hot Country Z 101.7. Penney eliminated Maryville from the postseason on Friday night with a 64-55 victory.
In the boys championship game, Penney will play Maryville for the second year in a row (Saturday at 6:30 PM). On Friday night, Penney beat LeBlond 78-57, while Maryville took care of East Buchanan.
