The College Football Playoff selection committee has replaced University of Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte with Kansas State’s AD Gene Taylor.  The announcement came five days after Texas joined rival Oklahoma in announcing their departure from the Big 12 to the SEC, effective in 2025.

A committee of 13 individuals, the CFP group is comprised of mostly athletic directors, in addition to a few former players and coaches. In a move by Big 12 officials resulting from the recent Texas decision to leave, Del Conte was canned from the position, replaced by Taylor.

Taylor has served as athletic director at KSU since 2017.  The selection committee chairman for the 2021 season will be Gary Barta of the University of Iowa.
